Perfect Strength

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Ashley Thomas I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. The word strength communicates to us a certain level of capability. It could include physical, mental, emotional or corporate capabilities. In scripture you would find the word “arm or hand” used repetitively as an imagery of strength. The arm or hand is capable of doing things that the other body parts just can’t do. Just the other day, I had to open a very tightly shut lid. As you could imagine my whole face was contorting as I put my hands to unscrew the lid. When I found that it was a little more difficult than I anticipated and thankfully no one was looking, I put the whole bottle underneath the tap and ran hot water over it for a little while and of course it opened quite easily after that. No doubt I had to use my mind, but I would not have been able to get it done - if I did not put my hands to it. I know that this might seem as a simple illustration but I believe it has a far greater application for us who desire to walk in the ways of the Lord. If by far you are a weak person, you will find limitations to what you can and cannot do. That is why many when faced with certain challenges do not make an attempt at tackling certain matters. They are afraid that the task would be too difficult and would require more than they are capable of producing. There are many today in this world who are easily intimidated when pushed, they have a great sense of inadequacy and they bare the scars to prove it. Thankfully, the Word of God addresses this dilemma because throughout the scriptures you can find examples where people who were without strength did great things simply by placing their confidence in God. This is where the line is drawn, those who are without strength, know how helpless they truly are. They have no where to turn, they have their backs against the wall figuratively speaking. Yet the weakest person can be immensely strong when he turns to the Lord and no, you wouldn’t find this kind of information in any kind of textbook. The Bible says that “through Christ who strengthen us, we are able to do all things”. But some would say but there are so many things that I still can’t do, how can I do all things? The answer lies in this important question, where does your confidence come from? Is it from your great talents and abilities, does it come from the high praise of others? If that’s where you get your confidence from, you can never experience His strength. On the other hand, if you are weak and are incapable of doing certain things, you need to consider this truth. For the moment you acknowledge that you are weak and without strength and you look to the one who is your confidence and who is your strength, then my friend you have discovered the secret of “perfect strength”. This is the truth that liberates every individual from despair. The weakest person can indeed be the strongest in Christ Jesus. For there is strength to those who look in anticipation for the Lord. Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Amen! Strawberry Jamming

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Kit Heathcock Were jammingstrawberry jamming. Musings on small farm living. So why am I standing at the kitchen counter, blurry eyed at 9 oclock at night, sorting and chopping organic strawberries, when I should be tucked up on the sofa falling asleep over the latest Katie Fforde? ( I also have several highbrow novels and some very interesting and challenging metaphysical reading lined up, but Katie Fforde wins out after a normal day with three children, four dogs, three cats all needing various forms of attention). Well, leaving the city for the country life and a bit of land, you decide to grow something, ‘cos otherwise youre just a city slicker pretending to be a country person - like all the others are tourists but Im a cultured visitor mentality. Anyway, so twelve strawberry plants, four years on have now become a commercial (sort of) organic growing business and, two months of the year, my evenings are spent making jam. The best strawberries get sold straight, no probs, but there are half as much again that are rejected due to no fault of their own, a peck mark, slight deformity or whatnot, and what am I going to do with them. The trouble is living on a farm somehow brings out all the traditional frugal qualities of our ancestors waste not want not everything must be preserved, frozen, used profitably or else why did you put so much effort into growing them in the first place. So you cant lob 3 kilos of seconds into the bin, put it out for the rubbish collectors and forget about it. For a start there are no rubbish collectors, itll sit there reproachfully until composted, attracting fruit flies, or else the chickens will get drunk on fermenting fruit so yummy delicious strawberry jam is the result. So chopping strawberries, brain disengaged, do I think how lucky to be surrounded by so much luscious, decadent, fragrant fruit, or that I could never get excited about them again? Are the chickens going to start laying strawberry flavoured eggs soon from all the rejected rejects, and if so should I start making strawberry souffl? Looking at the chakra pages on http://www.aflowergallery.com where a red flower is the first chakra, is the strawberry the first fruit chakra? And if so what are all the others.orange oranges, easy.yellow lemons or bananas.green apples .were doing good..now it gets harder.bluehmmm..clich blueberries (definitely not Smurf blue but still blue).indigo..are damsons indigo? Or mulberries (my fingers and the childrens clothes usually turn more of a burgundy colour after harvesting them)what about violetIm getting stuck now and rambling madly off the subject, what was it? Strawberries and chakras, which leads to health what did Margaret Roberts say strawberries were good forskinwell my two year old daughter used to help pick strawberries last year, until two weeks into the season she came out in a massive skin rash due to excessive overindulgence causing an allergic sensitivity, so I wont be rubbing strawberries into her skin. Rich in antioxidants, killing viruses, lowering blood pressure, helping fight cancer sounds like a miracle fruit to me. I think I need to be more respectful of them, after all, who can complain of evenings spent in such worthwhile company. 5 Tips to Gaining Media Momentum at Tradeshows

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Kelly ONeil Tradeshows offer abundant opportunities for proactive and positive marketing experiences. Tradeshow and marketing managers are under pressure in today’s economy to gain greater visibility. Meanwhile costs for show floor space are rising and companies make further demands to “rise above the noise.” Getting the best return for this investment requires integrated trade show programs that leverage the entire marketing mix. Public relations is widely regarded as the most effective marketing dollar that high-tech companies can spend because it can generate product and company awareness at the lowest possible cost. Through editorial endorsement, PR also can deliver immediate credibility and enhanced reputation through media coverage that can increase sales and improve margins. Publicity from key publications can drive traffic to your booth, provide credibility to enhance sales discussions during the show, and continually provide impact well after a show has concluded. The right presence at industry tradeshows is an effective way to make lasting impressions and increase traffic and provide a better ROI on your tradeshow involvement. Media relations is an important aspect of trade show marketing, and, with the right amount of effort, preparation, and execution, can be an excellent opportunity to get immediate and future coverage. Finally, trade shows last only a few days, while articles in key trade journals, search engines, and Web sites help customers to find you 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To get every tradeshow you attend to really pay off with the media, consider pursuing the following 5 tips: TIP # 1 IDENTIFY YOUR GOALS - DEVELOP A STRATEGY, THEN DEVELOP TACTICS Is your company announcing a product? Trying to differentiate an existing product from your competition? Trying to break into a new market? Do you want direct sales or hits to your site? Are you trying to capture information from key customers? Define your goals and be specific. Be bold, yet realistic. Once you know what you want, you can set priorities, develop a plan and develop the tactical approaches to help you achieve your goals. TIP # 2 PLAN AHEAD - DRIVE TRAFFIC LONG BEFORE THE SHOW Tradeshows often provide amazing access to your targeted media. Work with your P R representative in advance to coordinate face-to-face meetings with key industry editors for purposes of building editor relationships, stimulating feature articles in various print media segments, and contributing to on-going media relations initiatives. Other hints: Pre-release your biggest news before the show; put out another announcement the day the show starts to generate further buzz. Target the show trade publications show editions and also the show dailies put out by the conference. If you are launching a product at the show, make sure you start your P R campaign at least three months before the show. Use the show as an opportunity to meet the journalist or analyst in person. TIP # 3 LEVERAGE EXISTING OPPORTUNITIES Tradeshows are excellent venues to leverage company executives, partners, customers, and prospects to dominate the show where it counts…in front of an audience. Always seek speaking or panel moderating opportunities in advance to obtain greater industry and media exposure. TIP #4 CREATE OPPORTUNITIES Reporters covering a show may be required to deliver up to seven stories a day. Give them something to write about. If your company doesn’t have any significant news to announce or you are looking for a way to differentiate above the noise, be creative and invent your opportunities. Provide an extensive media kit with photos. Make executive spokespeople readily available armed with key messages and pitch ideas. Provide customer testimonials, white papers and case studies. Have your PR representative staff the booth to speak with the media, answer questions and proactively coordinate opportunities. If you want to make a real splash, conduct an opinion survey about industry trends and announce the results with a press release at the show to include your company as an industry leader. Journalists are always looking for great news hooks. TIP # 5 FOLLOW UP Now that you have created new relationships, make sure you keep them! There are several opportunities to use PR after the show. Make sure you send the media post-show press releases reporting trends, statistics or information on significant newsworthy information/orders that resulted from the show. Send thank you notes to the journalists that took the time to come by your booth and offer your assistance in the future as an industry think tank. Create new pitches in the form of a state of the industry report based on your observations at the show and send it out. After the event, many journalists will draw on the discussions and contacts made during a trade show to write articles throughout the year. While a few large companies may dominate show publicity during the show, year-round media coverage will go to those who best leverage their one-on-one contacts. Cleansing for a Busy Schedule

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Monica Hirai Why cleanse? We hear a lot of talk about it, but do we really need it? The answer to this question is easy. Look out across the city you live in. Do you see that brown/yellow haze out there? We all breathe that. And that is just the air we breathe not the chemicals in our food, water etc. Cleansing is an important part of maintaining health, slowing the aging process and preventing diseases, by allowing the body to rid itself of a build up of toxins. There are many ways of doing this. Ideally, a person should be free of commitments during a cleanse, as much as is possible, because a relaxed person can detoxify more efficiently. Another note of caution, do not ever make yourself fit into a cleanse. The cleanse should fit you. Take time to experiment to see what regime will best suit your schedule, but you will need to make room for it no matter how busy you are. A cleanse can be a fast, but it doesnt have to be. You can eat while cleansing provided that you use cleansing foods. If you want a specific food list for cleansing check into any cleansing book and they will list the foods specifically. Generally, it is avoiding heavy foods like red meat, wheat, dairy, fried foods, Soya products, dried fruit etc. You would eat fresh fruits, fresh veggies, whole grains with the exception of wheat, some chicken or fish etc. (Some veggies contraindicated when cleansing are tomatoes, potatoes, squash family. Dried fruit is usually a no-no.) Any condiments you use would be very simple like; flax oil, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, vegetized sea salt etc. The idea is to eat easily digestible foods so as to free-up the eliminative organs; liver, kidney, skin, lungs, colon, and lymphatic system, so they can spend more time detoxifying and less time digesting. (Some of these organs arent directly digesting food, but do help in the processing part of digesting.) A juicer is also recommended, though a basic cleanse can be done without this. With these things in mind, let me run through a few ways you can accomplish this. Plan A: Fast for days with fresh vegetable juices and fruit juices. Then eat lightly in the latter part of the day. I.e.: Brown rice or millet with fish or chicken and a salad. Have a variation of this for supper or have a few glasses of fresh juice from your juicer. Plan B: Juice with veggie and fruit juices all day (take your juice 1 to 2 hours apart) with 4 to 6 fiber drinks hour between juices. A mixture of a high quality psyllium mixture and ground flax seed is excellent for cleansing. It aids the removal of toxins from the intestines. Add hydrated bentonite clay to help absorb even more toxins from your body! (1 tbsp per drink is usually enough.) A word of caution here: if you havent ever done a fast before do not attempt this without doing the day fast first. Also, for fasting; going on to the fast, and coming off the fast, must be equal to the number of days you are planning to fast. For example, if you are planning to fast for 3 days. Then you would start eating fruits, veggies with easy to digest protein like seeds, fish etc for 3 days before fasting. When you come off you must start with blended fruits, blended salads, and gradually work your way to easy-to-digest proteins, for three days at least. Coming off a cleanse is almost more important than the fast itself. It can make or break a fast. (Dont do this on your own if you are on medication of any kind.) Plan C: Use cleansing food all day without any fasting. Pick from a cleansing food list to make up your menus ahead of time. A sample menu would look like this: Breakfast: Ground almonds, which had been soaked over night in purified water. Have with maple syrup. Lunch: Brown rice, chicken, salad with a flax oil or olive oil dressing. Dinner: Chicken breast, brown rice and veggies. Plan D: Juice fast on the weekends, while eating cleansing foods during the week. Additional aids to cleansing would be: a) Use herbs to help clean out the toxins from fatty tissues, the liver, colon, lymph, lungs, kidneys and skin. Herbs are quite necessary to really get the junk out of the body. b) Grow Wheat Grass juice and juice it. Add it to your veggie and fruit juices. It is excellent for cleansing. c) Eat cleansing foods that are in accordance with your blood type. Eat Right for Your Type. By Dr. Peter J. DAdamo. d) Eat cleansing foods that are in season if at all possible. And eat as organic as possible. e) Use enemas or colonics or a combination of both to enhance the detoxifying process. Water is the best solvent known to man. It will take out of your body toxins that nothing else can. f) Use affirmations to help you stick to a cleanse. For example, Hour by hour my body is purifying itself. Or Every minute that I am fasting or cleansing, I am flushing dangerous poisons out of my wonderful body. g) Dry skin brushing morning and night using a vegetable bristle brush. Brush towards your heart. Do it lightly, this will help your lymph move along. References: The Miracles of Fasting by Paul Bragg and Patricia Bragg. Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Making Your Wedding Announcement

Friday, September 21st, 2007

By Lesley-Ann Graham It’s wonderful news, the kind that absolutely must be shared. Feel free to spread the word and enjoy the fame. Everyone loves being in love and they appreciate lovers. There are two kinds of announcements that you will normally make once you decide to get married. The first kind is to announce your engagement. The second is to announce your marriage. When you register your intent to get married in your parish, your church will normally announce your upcoming nuptials for three weeks prior to the event. This is called posting the banns. The announcement is made in both the communities that the bride and groom belong to; not just where they will get married. This is to notify any and all parties, who may have a valid reason to stop the event from taking place, to come forward. For example, there may be a legal impediment such as your fiance may actually already be married and not divorced or single like he’s been saying. In some countries, the city hall will also post announcements in your place of residence for the same purpose. The second announcement is the best! Let the world know that you have been married. Post an announcement in your daily newspapers. Some of them will post announcements, with a wedding picture, for free. Others may charge but the fee isn’t usually that costly. You can contact your local paper and inquire about their service if they haven’t included instructions in the section on announcements itself. When we said let the world know, we meant it. Don’t forget to make your announcement online as well. There are hundreds of wedding announcement sites where you can share the good news. Let your far flung relatives share your happiness no matter where they are. I’m sure they would want to be with you, if only in spirit. Spread the word! Meet Expenses At Low Cost By Cheap Personal Loan UK

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Peter_Taylor]Peter Taylor You need money to pay for various expenses but can not more often source finance from main income or from friends or relatives. In such a case cheap personal loan UK is best suited to you as the loan is approved in time and comes at lower interest rate and overall low cost. You can utilize cheap personal loan UK for variety of purposes like renovation of home, meeting expenses of higher education and medical bills or even for clearing previous debts. Getting cheap personal loan UK is a hassle free and easy process. All you do after deciding the loan amount is to opt for secured or unsecured versions of the loan with both having own benefits. The loan is called cheap because of lower interest rate and low cost attached to it. For taking secured cheap personal loan UK you would be offering any of your property such as home, vehicle as collateral to give security of the loan. It is on the strength of collateral that borrower is able to corner larger loan at lower interest rate for himself. Lenders usually provide 5000 to 75000 as a secured loan for a repayment term of 5 to 30 years at lower interest rate. In case larger loan is needed, the collateral must have greater equity in it. For reducing the interest rate one should borrow an amount below the equity as this secures the loan more. Unsecured cheap personal loan UK does not require any collateral and so borrower is free from fear of the repossession of his property. However to ensure the lender ones repayment capacity he should proof his income, employment or financial standing if any to the lender. The loan comes at slight disadvantage of higher interest rate, lower amount and shorter repayment term but this should not discourage borrowers as one can still borrow at easier terms on searching the suitable lender. For those labeled bad credit, the loan is available hassle free. In case of secured loan there is no need for a credit check as the lender can recover loaned amount by selling borrowers property. Unsecured loan seekers however are required to present their credit report and in case of bad credit they should ensure about safe return of the loan by offering a concrete repayment plan to the lender. Prefer applying online for the loan as this allows you access to number of lenders and you can pick up suitable loan package having lower interest rate and easier conditions laid by lenders. Cheap secured loan UK allows you cheap finance to meet personal expenses at lower interest rate and overall low cost which is very important for any borrower. Make sure to clear the loan and installments in time to escape any debt burden. Once paid off in time the loan goes a long way in improving credit score also. How to Leverage Your Most Powerful Marketing Tool

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

By Kelly O’Brien Second in a series of three articles: What if you could reach thousands of prospects, build fruitful, pro-active relationships with them, and stay top-of-mind with them on a regular basisand not spend a fortune in the process? If this sounds too good to be true, then youve not mastered the art of leveraging your firms online strategy. A web site is one of the most unique and powerful marketing tools you have, if you develop and use it correctly. It can also be a huge drain of wasted money and resources if you dont know what youre doing. High Tech is High Touch There are two components to this powerful marketing tool the website itself, coupled with a well thought-out online strategy. Done right, heres what a website and online strategy can do for you: Build relationships. Marketing your law firm is about creating and sustaining a trust-based relationship with your intended and current clients. A good website and online promotion strategy can do just that, without requiring more of you precious billable hours to be present in your clients and prospects lives. Tap new markets. Why do clients come to you in the first place? Is it because they have a real problem, an immediate need, and no choice but to hire an attorney? What if you could tap a less crisis-driven, more pro-active market that provided you with more predictable and longer-term cash flow? Amazingly, an integrated online/offline marketing strategy, centered around your website can do that for you. Accelerate your sales cycle. By the time someone calls you, chances are theyve already visited your website. With the right online approach, you can increase a prospects confidence that your firm is the right one to call, reduce the number of unqualified prospects, encourage a call to action, and begin a long-term relationship. Stay in sight and top of mind. The adage, out of sight is out of mind is true, even in legal matters. There is simply no guarantee that an existing client will return to your firm the next time they need similar services. Too many variables and influences can intercede, particularly if a lot of time passes between needs. Your website and online strategy can painlessly bridge the gap between more time consuming, off-line keep-in-touch activities (i.e., phone calls, direct mail, customer surveys) that are often hard to carve out time to do and expensive to implement. Turbocharge your business development efforts. A well-constructed website can be the hub of your firms presence in the marketplace. Ideally, your website is the first place prospects go when they learn about your firm through a referral, while networking, in the press, or perhaps a direct mail piece. Once theyre on your site, you can educate them, build their loyalty and confidence, demonstrate your results, and motivate them to take actionall for a fraction of the time, energy, and money these things require off-line. Manage your marketing dollars more wisely. Wouldnt it be great if you could tell which off-line marketing activities pay off and which ones dont? With the right approach, you can do just that, using your website and underlying technology as a tool for measured marketing. Youll never have to wonder if the money you spend on direct mail, networking, or publicity is really worth it again youll know for sure! The Essentials The money you spend on a website and promotional strategy is only as good as the work they do for you to turn surfers into real clients. For a website that works hard and gets results, heres what to consider. 1. Function over form. There are plenty of visually appealing websites that fall far short of what clients and prospects are really looking for. When someone visits your site, they want it to load quickly be easy to read provide a range of information (not everyone will read it all, but everyone is attracted and motivated by different things so youve got to offer it all) make it easy to contact you not distract or waste their time with unnecessary effects be easy to print out perhaps teach them something they didnt know. Graphic design is a very important element of any website, but it should not be what drives content, navigation, and usability. At most, it should weigh in equally with content and navigation. 2. Long, well-written copy sells. Believe it or not, if what you say speaks to your target audience in language thats about them, their problems, their world, and their needs, theyll read a lot more than youd think. The key, though, is that what you say has got to be about them, not your firm at least not initially. This goes back to the laws of marketing discussed in the first article of this series, How to Put Law & Order into Marketing Your Law Firm. (on our website at http://www.growyourlawfirm.com under Free Resources: Articles). Most professional service firms break this ruleand end up sounding alike. Differentiate your firm by writing website content that speaks to your clients worldview, not yours. Educate them, motivate them, soothe them, convince them, inform them, and move them to action. 3. Load up on value. Give visitors to your site a reason to stick around and to bookmark your site because its so darned valuable. Increase their knowledge and help them feel competent every time they go to your site, and theyll fall in love with your firm. Ironically, the more you share about what you know, the more people are drawn to your work and will trust that your services are highly valuable, not a necessary evil, and worth every penny they pay. 4. Integrate online with off-line. Think about how you get new clients now word of mouth? Referrals? Networking? A letter of introduction? Quoted in the press? Usually its through off-line activities. While youre at it, invite people to visit your website and let it do the initial relationship-building work for you. Follow up an initial introduction with an email link to your site and an invitation to subscribe to your firms free e-newsletter. Attach an article youve written that specifically addresses the concern they approached you about. Follow up with a phone call to see if they got the article and continue your conversation. Maybe you get a new client right away, but if not, you keep in touch through your monthly e-newsletter that reminds them of how valuable you are, and drive them back to new content on your website. Before you know it, you do have a new client, and a lot of the heavy lifting was done by your great website. Even if your firm has a website, take a look at how hard it works for you. Wedding Planning: A Must To Cherish The Memories Forever

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Joann Grant Congratulations! Finally you are all set to enter into the wedlock. You have already finalized the date and now you are gearing up to plan your wedding ceremony. And I know, you want the occasion to be the best occasion of your life. For that you don’t want to leave anything with imperfection. A wedding planning with assistance of a reputed wedding planner would be of great help in your quest to make your wedding an unforgettable event for not only you and your spouse but all guests. The first and the foremost thing is to decide what kind of wedding you are planning for yourself. You must be clear about the theme that you would love to assign to your wedding. Once you are clear about the theme of wedding you need to do your bridal preparation accordingly. Your wedding gown, your shoes and your make up all must gel with the theme. You can visit bridal stores to fetch out all that a bride needs on the occasion. A theme wedding requires you to choose a venue that could be helpful in actualization of the theme that you have chosen for your wedding. At the time of planning you would also decide on the type of floral arrangement on the venue. For that you may seek assistance of a florist having expertise in extending wedding services. For a theme wedding you are also needed to be very specific about the bridal bouquet. Orders must be given in advance. Your groom’s outfit preparations should also go hand in hand with your preparations. Your wedding planning also includes the number of guests that you would love to invite and accordingly you need to order invitation card. Seeing expected number of guests you should decide on reception and wedding return favors that you would offer to departing guests. Decision on a wedding cake perfectly suited to the customized wedding is a difficult task. For that you will have to wander from one confectionery to another. Choose a cake that is in consonance with the personalized theme of wedding. All wedding accessories must be shopped in advance at least two or three days prior the wedding. However you must plan your wedding as per you budget so that you may not fall short of finances in the midst of preparations. If you really want the memory of your wedding to be cherished by your guests, you need to be very attentive towards pettiest things of the occasion. Music that goes well with the occasion and a beautiful wedding ambiance can add to the beauty and elegance of your marriage. A wedding poem or a beautifully sculpted wedding speech could turn on your guests. I suggest you to plan out the best for your wedding. A well planned wedding would result in a perfect wedding ambiance with every thing perfect around. And I am sure you would love to get back to your past to enjoy beauty of your wedding moments.
